I tried to do some stuff tonight but nothing was working so I just messed around with the webby tool on deviantart’s Muro and painted something from a mapcrunch reference. got lots of cool effects but it is really unpredictable and hard to control in the way it layers colours. a tradeoff I suppose! mixed feelings about the result, definitely could use more detail.
you can watch me paint it with the redraw function, I think it’s kind of relaxing.
(no I haven’t used deviantart for years and I don’t intend to make a habit of it and no you can’t track down my old accounts either!!)

The first thing you find out when yer dog learns to talk is that dogs don’t got nothing much to say. About anything.
The other day I was stuck waiting for someone in a bookstore for an hour (not something I was unhappy about) and I ended up starting on Patrick Ness’ Chaos Walking trilogy. I only got a third of the way into the first book, but I was hooked from the first line, as quoted above. It has a great premise and all my favourite epic themes (like, children in peril, this picture is pretty lighthearted but the story isn’t) and the protagonist’s first-person voice is really unique. Need to get my hands on copies so I can continue reading.

clearing out art folder some more: I really wanted to finish this but it’s been two months and there are fundamental mistakes with colour and composition sigh. but some parts of it are good and I love them (the whole stretch from Kanaya’s face to Vriska’s shirt up to Vriska’s head is really arresting for some reason augh).
it’s been a while, but I’m pretty sure this happened because tumblr user sunbreaksdown gave me ship feelings, and also I read all the depressing dreambubble Vriska/Kanaya fic in existence.

oops I think the level of detail makes this kind of unintentionally hilarious. like “woah let’s put in wizard statues and potted plants, let’s do some patterned tiles and beautiful lighting — oh yeah, and the kinky lesbian incest, totally forgot I was drawing that heh”. not sure if the style works for the porn though, it either makes it less sexy…or…moreso…

I just got a pleasingly round number of followers (haha oh no what are you all doing here!!) and I am kind of art blocked (sounds like a silly thing to say when I keep drawing and drawing but I just about tore my hair out in frustration the other night, I think I need to break myself of perfectionism, ok whoops this paragraph is getting long)
